It all began with the founding of the engine factory, N.A. Otto & Cie, in 1864. In 1894 the first Deutz tractor with a 26 hp petrol engine left the factory. In 1937 Klöckner was purchased and the company was renamed KHD, Klöckner-Humboldt-Deutz AG. 1961 saw the first appearance of the name Fahr in the portfolio thanks to a cooperation with Fahr AG, and seven years later the Deutz-Fahr brand was created. Thanks to a rapidly growing product range and successful tractors, Deutz-Fahr became part of the SAME Deutz-Fahr Group in 1995. In 2017, the agricultural engineering giant's success to date was based on the opening of Europe's most modern tractor plant under the name Deutz-Fahr Land. Deutz tractors through the ages
Right from the start, simple operation and stable performance were the top priorities in tractor development. These characteristics have distinguished the company for years. This was proven by the first Deutz tractor, the MTH 220, which was replaced by its revised and perfected successor, the MTH 120, just two years later. From 1932 onwards, Deutz tractors were equipped with the MTZ 220, making them a little more comfortable - at least by the standards of the time. Four years later the F1M 414 tractor was developed. This tractor was very similar to the Deutz-Fahr tractors as we know them today. From 1972, the cab design of the tractors was given a square cut, and until 1991, Deutz-Fahr tractors retained their square engine hood. In 1992, the AgroStar series was launched on the market, but the Deutz-Fahr AgroStar 6.11 was still a popular model in the 100 hp class. It was not until 1995, with the introduction of the Agrotron series, that the manufacturer adopted significantly rounder structures for the driver's cabs of Deutz-Fahr tractors. Starting in 2004, the Agrotron 200 reduced the bevel of the bonnet and Deutz-Fahr tractors were given the design that is still familiar today.

From 1950 onwards, air-cooled engines were used in Deutz-Fahr tractors, a tradition that Deutz retained until the mid-nineties. The first control hydraulics followed eight years later. In 1972 Deutz-Fahr designed the INtrac concept, which was followed by the free-view concept in 1990. Comfortable features, such as a spacious driver's cab or the sprung front axle, have been added to the Agrotron series. With all these innovations, the agricultural machinery manufacturer's motto has always been: "What matters is what benefits the farmer". In the 191 hp to 210 hp class, Deutz-Fahr tractors with four models are currently taking the lead in the tractor market.
