Forestry winches
Winches are technical aids and versatile tools. A winch is a construction, with which one can pull a load by means of a rope. The rope is wound up by a motorized winch. Winches are used mainly in forestry technology and are the same as logging winches. The most common winches have a robust design and are made of high quality galvanized steel.
Depending on the amount of labor input, various winches may be used: drum, worm wheel, electric, manual and radio winches. Professional forestry winches are intended for use with powerful vehicles - they can pull, carry or lift heavy loads. Therefore, these winches should be particularly strong. The winch is used, for example, for shifting wood or when pulling a trailer for use. In forestry, a radio winch increases productivity, since control is possible with a worker. Winches are indispensable also as felling aids. Winches are literally lifesavers and come into use during rescue operations and in the renovation of wind breaks. In terms of work safety, the security policies (e.g. the carrying and load capacity) of the winch manufacturer of winches have to be considered.
To work safely with logging winches, all components must be adapted to the maximum tensile force of the forestry winch. Using the Calmbacher table, values for the tensile force required in precipitations of different locating heights can be determined using a winch. The winch is mounted either at the rear or at the front side of the vehicle. Hydraulic winches are driven via a tractor.
On tractorpool you will find used winches with different loads by several manufacturers such as KMB, Krpan, Holzknecht, Tajfun. Logging winches are used in many regions, especially in mountainous areas like Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.
