Snow remover
Snow removers, as the name suggests, serve to clear snow. The used device varies, depending on the height of the snow and whether it is damp or powdery. For snow depths of up to 20cm, snow shovels or snow plows come into use.
These snow removers push the snow aside thanks to motor power. For the clearing of bigger areas, they also exist in the form of attachments for compact tractors. Bigger devices can also remove snow depths of up to 50cm. Snow blades are available as snow removers for the clearing of streets, through the shoving of snow. These snow removers are assembled at the front of a tractor. In the case of lower quantities of loose snow, it is also possible to use a sweeper for clearance purposes.
For snow depths superior to 50cm however, snow removers that only push the snow to the side are not anymore sufficient. When confronted with such quantities, snow blowers are used. They mill the snow. This takes place when rubber tipped rotor blades that touch the floor, ensure that the snow is picked up. A rotor then throws the snow out again. The throwing direction of the snow removers can be adjusted. With this type of snow removing devices, the weight of the snow does not play a role.
But, since it is hardly possible that a snow remover completely frees a street from snow and ice (the so-called black clearance), it is recommended to use grit as well. The grit can be distributed by the means of different grit distributors.
